THE ESSENTIALS

SOLD to Michigan!! This is a well documented 1982 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur that has covered a mere 60,000 miles since new. This Spur is elegant in its two tone Light Oyster and Dark Oyster livery complimented with its matching Everflex roof. This Spur was ordered new by Elaine Wynn, otherwise known as the “Queen of Las Vegas”. She is listed in Forbes for her philanthropy and affluence, and is a major shareholder and on the board of the famous resort bearing her name. She purchased the Rolls from Cutter Motor Cars on July 6th, 1983.

The all-original paint looks very good with only a few small touched-up paint chips and the Everflex has very slight staining as seen in the photo gallery. The Spur has never had any accidents or sign of damage. The original stainless steel for the grill and bumpers is nearly perfect, devoid of the common scratches.

The interior is very nice overall. The Mushroom leather (VM 4136) hides are without deep creases and are fairly supple. We have had the dye touched up in the front passenger area. The two contrasting veneers for the wood accents are in good condition with only slight cracking showing throughout. The burl walnut veneers on the dash are beautiful and the door caps are a contrasting straight grain. The mushroom Wilton wool carpets are original and in very nice condition. The drivers foot pad has been removed from the carpet. The original sheepskin mouton overlays have provided ample protection and are the ultimate in luxury. The moutons were sent for dry cleaning and are not shown in the photo gallery.

Our consignment client has owned this Spur for the past 15 years. This is one of 582 LHD Silver Spurs produced in 1985 for worldwide delivery. This Spur was enjoyed by Ms. Wynn and was sent to California from 1985 through 2002. The speedometer was replaced on June 22, 1988 when the Spur had accumulated 19,022 miles. The odometer is now showing just over 40,000 miles making the total accumulated mileage 60,000 from new.

We conducted our mechanical inspection, serviced the cars fluids and air conditioning, and installed all new front brake pads. The car is in very nice mechanical and hydraulic condition. The passenger side door locks are not operating with the door lock system and have to be operated manually. One of the stainless steel wheel trim rings was missing and we are awaiting a replacement which has been ordered and is in transit.

Being fitted with the electronic fuel injection, this example should continue to prove to be dependable for regular use. The Spur is complete with spare keys, service receipts, tools and records, and all of the original owners manuals and documentation.

For more information and details, call or text Harry Clark at +1.602.245.7200 or email us at harry@classicpromenade.com. The Spur is located in our Phoenix, AZ showroom. We encourage and assist with live video inspections of our motorcars.

Interesting Fact: The Rolls-Royce Silver Spur is a long-wheelbase version of the Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit that was manufactured from 1980 to 2000. It was also the first model to feature a retractable Spirit of Ecstasy, which would retract into the radiator shell if dislodged.    Both the Silver Spur and Silver Spirit carried over designs from their predecessor the Silver Shadow. This included using a 6.75 L L410 V8 engine along with a GM-sourced THM400 3-speed transmission. Each vehicle was considered a full-size luxury car and self-leveling suspension systems with ride height control and shock absorbers ensure a comfortable ride quality.   There were two variations of the Silver Spur released in the 1990s: The Flying Spur and the Silver Dawn. The Flying Spur is a turbocharged model that features a higher performance than the base model. Only 134 of these were ever produced. The Silver Dawn is a specialized edition of the Spur and featured new technology for the time such as electronic traction assistance systems and heated rear seats.    Production on both base models officially closed in 1997 but continued until 2000 when the Silver Spirits parts were fully out of stock. The luxurious craftsmanship that went into the production of the Silver Spur and Silver Spirit paved the way for future Rolls-Royce vehicles.
