THE ESSENTIALS

1973 Jaguar XKE Roadster

[svgallery name=”1973_Jaguar”]

This beautiful original California XKE Roadster has a smooth and powerful V12 engine.  The combination of the British Racing Green exterior with tan leather interior, 4 speed manual transmission and air conditioning make this car the most desirable of all Series III’s.  It has both a new soft top and hard top with hard top stand and cover and a CD stereo system.  It is a multiple show winner including the Southern California regional Jaguar owner’s club 1st place trophy.  This car is very reliable and has been on several 1,000 mile vintage motor tours in California always successfully finishing.

Since 1973’s no longer require California  smog checks, the catalytic converter system and smog pumps have been removed for extra smoothness and power and an electronic ignition system has been added.  It also has been modified with high speed electric fans and extra core radiator to keep it running cool even in the hottest  Southern California summers.  None of these changes deduct from its concours show quality.  The brakes, tires and battery were replaced within the last 3 years or 6,000 miles  and it comes with a tool kit , manuals and service history.

Interesting Fact: This Jaguar model was only called the XKE in the North American market during the time of production. In Britain, where the car was manufactured, it was known as the Jaguar E-Type.

Production on the Jaguar XKE occurred between 1961 and 1975 and a convertible, as well as hard top version were both offered. This sporty car boasts a top speed of 150 miles per hour and a 0 to 60 time that is under seven seconds. The body of the Jaguar XKE is based upon the Jaguar D-Type racing car which won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for three consecutive years starting in 1955.

When the Jaguar XKE was released in 1961, Enzo Ferrari called it “the most beautiful car ever made” and, in 2008, The Daily Telegraph listed the Jaguar XKE in its list of the 100 most beautiful cars of all time. Regardless of age, the Jaguar XKE holds up as one of the most stunning and high-performing vehicles in history!
