Harry's Thoughts

Every E-Type out of this collection can be considered one of the best, and this doesn't disappoint. The light blue livery softens the car and the chrome steel wheels look just right.

This is a stunning concours quality 1969 Jaguar Series II E-Type OTS roadster that has benefitted from a no expense spared restoration of a rust-free California car.  With a total investment in excess of $300,000, this Jaguar is spectacular.

The restoration started with a solid, nice rust-free original example.  The Jaguars long-time owner was Bill Davaney from Angels Camp, California and was acquired specifically because of its provenance of being a California car from new and numbers matching.

The restoration was completed in 2018 by Doctor Jag Technologies in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The parts alone cost in excess of $67,000, documented with numerous pages of single-spaced lines of accounting detail.  The stack of receipts is literally inches thick.  The labor value was $231,000 for the 2,100 hours the craftsmen and engineers spent rebuilding this incredible roadster.  This is part of a 70-car collection, including 26 Jaguars.

This E-Type has been beautifully finished in gorgeous sky blue and has the chrome steel wheels, giving it a spectacular look.  The paint, chrome and all the finish work are all in excellent condition.  This is ready to be competitive at concours events.

The gorgeous blue leather interior and matching blue carpeting is all new and without fault.  New Jaguar branded seatbelts have been installed and everything in the interior is as-new.  The dash, instruments and door panels are also either new or restored.  Everything works as it should.

The heart of this particular E-Type is what lies beneath the bonnet.  The engine pulls strong and operates perfectly.  We noted no modifications, the restoration was performed to bring it back to its original glory.  It has its numbers matching engine and the motorcar comes with its original data plate, receipts and records of the restoration and the Historical Society certificate.

An independent inspection was conducted and the report is available for your review.  It confirms the pristine condition of this roadster, as you would expect with a fresh restoration.  If you are interested in acquiring the ultimate E-Type that is essentially as-new or better than new, this may be your motorcar.

Interesting Fact: This Jaguar model was only called the XKE in the North American market during the time of production. In Britain, where the car was manufactured, it was known as the Jaguar E-Type.

Production on the Jaguar XKE occurred between 1961 and 1975 and a convertible, as well as hard top version were both offered. This sporty car boasts a top speed of 150 miles per hour and a 0 to 60 time that is under seven seconds. The body of the Jaguar XKE is based upon the Jaguar D-Type racing car which won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for three consecutive years starting in 1955.

When the Jaguar XKE was released in 1961, Enzo Ferrari called it “the most beautiful car ever made” and, in 2008, The Daily Telegraph listed the Jaguar XKE in its list of the 100 most beautiful cars of all time. Regardless of age, the Jaguar XKE holds up as one of the most stunning and high-performing vehicles in history!
