Harry's Thoughts

This is a stunning example of this 1950's iconic American convertible. This Impala is beautifully restored and is wonderfully optioned.

THE ESSENTIALS

This is a beautiful concours quality example of a 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air Impala Convertible. This stunning Impala underwent a full restoration by a previous owner and stills shows in excellent condition today.  Everything was painstakingly restored to as-new.  This is an Impala that has nearly every desirable option including its date code correct (“numbers matching”) Big Block 348 CID V8, air conditioning, all power accessories, and the continental kit.

This Impala was built at Chevrolet’s production facility in Norwood, OH (Code N).  The current Phoenix, Arizona owner acquired the Impala from a collection in 2011. She remains in show quality condition and will make a great addition to any collection for show or for touring.

The livery has been repainted in a stunning Fathom Blue versus its original Silver Blue metallic (Paint Code 930). The paint has excellent shine and luster and is stunning. The chrome and stainless are in excellent condition.  The paint and chrome are complimented by the chrome wire wheels and wide white wall radial tires. This Impala comes well equipped with dual side mirrors, dual power antenna, and continental kit. The powered white vinyl convertible top is in excellent condition and operates smoothly.

The interior is dressed in the original trim color gray/blue (trim code 823) cloth and vinyl and is in excellent condition. The carpeting is all as-new in a beautiful vibrant blue. The floor mats are in excellent condition. The front manual bench seat is equipped with seatbelts. All the gauges are functioning and the radio works. The dash is beautiful and comes with a built-in clock on the passenger side.

This Impala is powered by the optional Big Block 348 CID V-8 engine is date coded correct and paired with a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission.  To be clear, date code correct is “numbers matching” as the VIN and engine numbers weren’t the same.  The engine compartment is clean and detailed for show. This Impala comes highly equipped with air conditioning, dual exhaust, power steering, power brakes, dual side mirrors, radio with dual antenna, fender skirts, continental kit and windshield washer. The air conditioning and clock are currently not working. This Impala runs and drives well and shifts smoothly.

Included in the sale are the original owner’s manual for the convertible top and Impala owner’s manual. Also included is a second full-size (non-wire wheel) spare, jack, and lug wrench.

For 1958, Chevrolet models were redesigned longer, lower, and heavier than their 1957 predecessors, and the 348 cu in (5.7 L) was now an option. The Bel Air gained a halo vehicle in 1958, the Impala, available only as a hardtop coupe and convertible in its introductory year. Impala styling followed the basic lines of the other Chevrolet models but received special styling cues including a different roof line, a vent above the rear window, unique side trim, and triple tail lights housed in slightly broader alcoves. Two significantly cheaper models, the Biscayne (formerly the 210) and the Delray (formerly the 150) were also available during this model year.
