THE ESSENTIALS

1957 Chevy Bel Air Convertible, Body-off Restoration, Dual Quads, Nicely Optioned, Gorgeous!

PRICE REDUCED $10,000!! This is a full Body Off restoration of a Chevy Bel Air convertible featuring the venerable Dual Quads. Every nut and bolt was touched during the extensive (and expensive) restoration. It has minimal patina now as it has been about ten years since restoration, making this the perfect Bel Air to show at concours, enjoy on tours or as a weekend cruiser!

This Bel Air was restored back to the factory correct color of Larkspur Blue livery (Paint Code 795) with the correct Blue Interior (Trim Code 679). We love the iconic color combination paired with the white convertible top and the continental kit (rear spare tire). The car is stunning! (VIN: VC57J165041)

This Bel Air is loaded with options! It has the correct 283 cu. in. dual quad (with the famous Bat Wing air cleaner) V8 with about 245 hp fitted with the Powerglide automatic transmission. For ease of driving this Bel Air has power steering and a power soft top. Other accessories include: Bowtie AM/FM cassette stereo, Continental kit, electric clock and many deluxe cosmetic accessories. We love the dual rear antennas!

The car drives beautifully. More than anything the car needs to be driven and enjoyed more frequently. The temperature gauge and speedometer are not functioning properly. For the past eight years this Bel Air has been owned by a collector in Southern California that has driven it sparingly. We now offer it for sale on his behalf.

Cosmetically, everything was restored to very high standards. The condition of the car belies the decade old restoration. Upon close inspection it appears as though there was a freshening up of an older frame off restoration. The exterior was repainted with a high quality respray to make it look absolutely fresh. The engine compartment and interior show a little bit more patina, but still wonderful. There are no dents or scratches in the paint. We would enjoy the car as is without doing anything except driving it and taking it to concours events! Look at the detailed photo gallery and inspection video with the test drive!

We do not have photos or receipts for the restoration as it was bought eight years ago fully restored. But the condition of the car speaks for itself!

PRICING: We have priced this Bel Air to sell!! The Hagerty Price Guide has the No. 2 Condition Bel Air convertible valued at $106,000. NADA has the High Retail value at $149,125. The cost of restoration alone to the standard of this Bel Air is over $100,000!

Interesting Fact: Even though the Chevy Bel Air was produced from 1950 to 1981, for the first two years of production, the Bel Air was only a two-door hardtop. However, the Bel Air name was expanded to other models until 1975 when production ceased in America. The Chevy Bel Air was still produced in Canada through 1981.   The Chevy Bel Air set a new standard for automobile design by originally having a non-detachable solid roof. This new model saw tentative success with only 76,662 models produced at $1,741 (roughly $17,000 today). A tested Chevy Bel Air had accelerated from 0 to 60 in 19.6 seconds, which was respectable for muscle cars of the day. As production continued over the years, Popular Mechanics reported that the Bel Air’s 0 to 60 time was improved to 12.9 seconds via a newly implemented V8 engine. This model was featured in the 1973 movie American Graffiti as driven by Harrison Ford. This helped the Chevy Bel Air to become the popular classic that thousands across America enjoy driving everyday!
