We are excited to be offering soon a fully restored Model T Roadster Pick-up truck. It’s been many years since we’ve driven one so we are excited to be receiving it into our inventory. This was said to be a nice Colorado Model T that was painstakingly restored to correct standards and includes an electric starter. It is very attractive in its present livery of green with black fenders, black interior and top with contrasting red wire wheels with white wall tires.
This truck had been acquired to be part of a collection in Virginia about 15 years ago. The former owner was touring through the Southwestern states and saw a similar truck and loved it. In the mid-1990’s his wife then bought him one as a present!
However, for most of the first ten years it had been extensively restored. This 1927 Ford Model T roadster pickup truck is a rare Model T that is seldom seen. Finished in green with black fenders and top, the truck has recently received a new wood bed which looks great.
The restoration included a new truck bed, all new wood, new top, interior, wiring, etc. As you would expect from a full restoration, this truck presents itself well.
The date was April 25, 1925 and on that date the Ford Motor Company introduced their first factory produced pickup truck. This new model was officially called the Ford Model T Runabout with Pickup Body. And Ford priced this new truck at $281.00 F.O.B. Detroit. In basic terms this new Ford was a roadster type pickup with an all steel bed that was 56 inches long, 40 inches wide, and 13 inches high. The sides of the bed had pockets for stakes and the tailgate was adjustable. If you wanted, or needed, a longer heavier duty pickup truck you could opt for a Model TT (1 ton rated) Ford truck with an 8 foot long Express Body (but that wouldn’t be as cute as this!).
The price of the Model T Ford Runabout with Pickup Body in 1926 jumped to $366.00. This higher priced pickup included additional equipment that was either optional or not available on the 1925 model. Additional equipment now included an electric starter, battery, and demountable tires. And if you wanted balloon tires they were available too at a cost of $15.00.
